Grants
The Scottish Government provides advice and funding to householders and community groups. The household grant is managed by the Energy Saving Trust and the community grant is managed by Community Energy Scotland.
Household Grants: The Energy Saving Scotland home renewables grant scheme provides grants to householders of up to 30% of the costs to a maximum of £4,000. Two grants can be claimed for different technologies. The installer and product must be MCS accredited. For more information visit the Energy Saving Trust website.
Free advice and support for householders considering renewables is available from the Energy Saving Scotland Advice Centres. You can contact your local centre by calling 0800 512 012 throughout Scotland.
Community Grants: The Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) provides grants of up to £150,000 for communities and has a network of development officers who can provide support and advice to the communities throughout the installation process. Technical assistance funding is also available to support non-capital projects, such as feasibility or scoping studies and capacity building within a community. The maximum grant is £15,000. Business Support: Energy Saving Scotland - small business loans provides loans from £1,000 to £100,000 at 0% fixed interest to help businesses install measures that reduce energy consumption or to install renewable energy technologies. For more information visit the Energy Saving Trust website.
